Concept Art

Two years ago I was invited to work in Studio Baestarts with base in Budapest, Hungary for two months for a 3D animated project as a concept artist for character development and environment concept art. Here is some of the work I did for this project.

Mexico | Imaginantes Series

So, continuing with the Mexico's Bicentennial commemorations here is an animation piece I helped out to illustrate. The piece is part of the project Imaginantes (Imaginarians), a cultural TV video segments produced by Televisa to tell short animated stories about influential people in Mexico's history, arts and literature. This particular segment is dedicated to Sergéi Eisenstein, a Russian filmmaker who produced some key projects for Mexico's film history during the first years of the 30's decade.

The Russian filmmaker imagined from his childhood a placed called Mexico, this dream became an obsession. When finally got in and captured trough his camera the textures of this unknown land, his vision was so intense that filtered deeply in Mexican history imagination."

Rock Marí | Opening Credits

My illustrations all over Mexico City!!! :)
This is the opening credits animation for the Mexican feature movie Rock Marí. I was commissioned by the team of Maribel Martinez in Mexico to collaborate in the creation of diverse illustrations compelling the personality of this little musician girl (Rock Marí) who likes to travel and wants to be a rock-star. They had these aerial scenes of Mexico City and the idea was to populate all kind of "girly" illustrations giving life to the buildings during the initial credits. The work was done in a super short time, last minute job! At the end everything turned out good.

Thanks to Gabriela Badillo, Diego Huacuja and some other animators (I don't have all the credits) who made the great 2D/3D compositing, animation and motion tracking work on this piece.

Great Schools

Recently I was invited by the fine fellows of Fashion Buddha to participate in a pitch-round to establish the art for a series of educational animated episodes by the City of San Francisco. This is what I came for but unfortunately didn't make it. I think the artwork is going to be under Ward Jenkins hand. I imagine this project is going to keep him busy for some time. Congrats my friend!

In Budapest

I'm in the beautiful Budapest, Hungary working in a long term project. This project is related to animation and I'm doing a very fun part :)
That's pretty much all what I can say for now. But I promise to post more new work soon, maybe not related to this project cause confidential policies but something will come up, inspiration is in everywhere here. Later!

Cowboys

Recently the great motion-graphics studio Interspectacular with base in NY invited me to collaborate with them in a pitch package for the new identity of CMT (Country Music Television). My participation was to come up with a character dvelopment, layout and some ideas for a promo clip series and a new logo explorations. This is what I did for them plus a new illustration a little bit inspired in the main character I did previously for this project.

Shiva >> Music video for Austin TV

Finally the music video for the single Shiva of mexican indie-instrumental band Austin TV is out and in rotation of regular broadcast of MTV Latin America and some other local TV music shows, I directed the video and did all the art used and a very talented guy named Diego Huacuja helped out with the animation and compositing, all was done in an intense record time of one month and everybody evolved in the project is very happy with the final result.

The story is based in an original idea of the fine mates from Austin TV, the booklet of the album it comes with a bunch of pages with sketches and stories written by this fictional character named Mario Lupo and the video tells just one of these surreal stories, when he and his xoloscuincle dog, Kerdoc, went to take a walk and accidentally fell in a subterranean magical forest that at the end results in the Devil's cave.
